Quality control in label manufacturing can be problematic. Presses run at hundreds of feet per minute, producing nothing but a blur of color . How do you control quality and assure that labels are error free?
In the past we relied on either running the machines slowly or to use strobe lights that “freeze frame” a view of the label. As you can imagine this is very taxing and the fatigue wears down an operator quickly.
To increase our quality control and production speeds, Miles Label has installed Vision Inspection systems in our finishing department. These devices look at every label no matter how fast the machine is running. When an error is detected, the machine automatically stops and presents the error to the operator for removal. Giving our customers assurance of error free labels.
There’s more to come! Miles Label is considering adding Vision Inspection on each of our two flexographic presses. The coolest thing: the press and the finishing talk to each other. On press the Vision Inspection System records the areas of concern and communicates that location to the finishing department – giving our finishing operators an upper-hand in preventing that error from reaching your product.
